| Personality | A friendly smart ass, Matt plays the role of life's sports commentator. A casual outlook on things and generally calm demeanor, even during the usual chaos such as alien attacks, killer robots, etc. is how he tends to act. Though on occasion he gives advice of the deep and meaningful sort, usually when someone he knows is making with the hero angst. |
| Powers |
First we’ve got cliché generic augment strength. He’s Stronger than Iron Mantis, but not Dr.Brian the local hulk equivalent. Then we’ve got cliché invulnerability, being able to take said doctor landing on him from low orbit, and okay enough to complain about his broken sunglasses. Various minor misc. things like yes you can watch the nuclear flash and not go blind, what’s so bad about holding plutonium again? Etc That could be tied in with the ‘yes, your generic tank augment material’ gig. He’s also immune to mind control and such, but gets a little creepy as a side effect when subjected to such things. Then there’s the fun power. His all purpose impact/energy ability. What does all purpose entail? Got one of those dark gods that can only be killed by the virgin maiden named Susan on Tuesdays? No problem! Someone assimilating, absorbing, or adapting to anything and everything? We can handle that too! Etheral magic that’s able to affect you and your proton pack, while your ghost buster gear ‘isn’t allowed’ to do anything? If you’ve been paying attention, you know what happens here. Incidentally allows him flight by him projecting a controlled amount of it, that he tends to blast through vents in his heroic type costume to give the appearance of using jets. |
| Weaknesses |
He’s afraid of getting to comfortable with wielding forces that weren’t meant to be chucked around like free candy on Halloween. What use are nifty powers if one does not use them? Matt usually acts in the augment sense only when needed, whether after all other available means have been tried or he’s the only one that would bother to deal with the situation before things reach a ‘do something or we all die’ point. He also tends to try and solve things with twisted common sense like macguiver if he can over the ‘make explosion, the end’ methods. Whether its because he finds it more entertaining, fair, or in hopes of note relying too much on his powers, even he isn’t quite sure. But probably a combination of all those. Also, while he’s technically immune to mind altering problems such as mind control, drugs, ect, he also enters a state where he’s decidedly more comfortable with blasting off a few limbs to get his point across when these infulences are at hand. And this state has also come up at times of extreme stress. |
| Skills | The many and varied cliché perks of growing up at, and working at Mad scientist central. He has the precision needed to wield unquestionably excessive destructive power in a way that would make successful Laser eye surgery with an orbital death satellite comparable to butcher work. This sureness of his actions, if not constantly overshadowed by the powers it restrains and the fact he’s a low effort sort, can make cool energy weapons, ect. would be his obvious edge. |

| Description | Matt Darkthorne is just an average 5’ 11” Jaguar looking to be in his early twenties. He wears black jeans with a hole for his tail, a dark black T-shirt, fingerless gloves, and black sneakers, Along with a red vest to add some color to all this black. Perched on his face is a small circular pair of shades, his silver eyes partially hidden behind them. His head fur is scruffy and looks like it would stay that way no mater how much hair gel or combing was used on it. Though it's hard to tell with the slightly baggy clothes, he has a decent amount of muscle. |
| Other Description |
Matt is currently in his armored form. Though it'd be a bit hard to tell its him. He wears what looks like a midnight black bodysuit, complete with extra for the tail. The thin well muscled sort of build apparent, no hulking brute gig or frail guy in power armored look for him. The Helmet while looking cool, makes one wonder how the hell he sees anything. The majority of it is a black helmet sized to fit close to the head, the front having a slight outward peak down the center of the smoothed featureless face. Set over it around eye level, is a band of more of the red armor like material in a slight V shape, the point coming just past where the bottom of his nose should be, and the upper edges stop just short of where his ears would be. The thin armored vest covers only the upper torso, so as not to restrict movement and stuff. Made of more deep red colored armor like material with black trim. A black disc area on the right side of the chest has two red J's, in that fancy name initial style. Shoulder pads bordering on the crazy big variety share the apparent set color scheme. Small jet vents inset in the back of the armored vest under each shoulder blade hardly seem like the sort of thing large enough to give proper speed. Crimson armored gloves with black segments over the front knuckles and claw tips. Red armored plates wrapped around his forearms with black trim along the edges. The boots are of the almost to knee height sort once again red with black trim, small plates over the knees separate from the rest, in the by now obvious colors. The finishing touch is a large black slightly ragged scarf made up of the same material his body suit hangs (or flutters if a dramatic breeze is present) out behind and a little to the right of his neck. Over all this creates an image that seems more creepy than heroic. |
| History |
We’ve all heard the story before… Parent is mad scientist, Mad scientist turns kid into walking death machine. Parent attempts to use kid to take over world. Well, the first two parts are right. It’s the why that’s different that the usual plot in Matt’s case. His mother, Elizabeth Krazepents Darkthorne had decided to take a different approach to the overprotective mother bit. If you shelter your child and protect them from anything and everything, they tend to become weak and brittle to the point that the wrong kind of laundry detergent used will kill them. This fact alongside with living in a city where threats of universal destruction are a daily thing making such sheltering near impossible while keeping a well paying if hazardous job there. So mere moments after his birth, began the complicated and lengthy experiments that would make him able to survive some of the craziest life has to toss at you in SMT. The point where he went from experiment to employee is uncertain, made harder to tell because often times there is no difference between the two. Well, maybe the experimentation pay akin to those sleep deprivation tests payed in proportion to the experiments done on him by his mother was better than what he makes now, but what you gonna do? As for his personal life before he took up heroics, not much of one can be had when the first ten years of your life are spent in a giant lab. Instead of a puppy he had a pet chest burster named spike, made friends with a to be scrapped AI that he hung onto, and basically managed to avoid death better than most of the other long term employees, if not further experimentation. After his tenth birthday however, the majority of the augmentation work had been completed, and his mother moved onto further projects, while the so far unmentioned father is still typing away half buried in wires keeping labs supercomputer AI rouge activity to a minimum of occasional genocidal rampages. Enter the rather surprised Grandfather, David Darkthorne. Hey, you’d be surprised too if you found out you had a grandson that was ten years old, and could theoretically blow up large segments of, if not the whole planet. David Darkthorne was once ‘known’, the term used loosely as nobody had heard of him, Propeller Puma. He never was a very successful hero, what with the shoulder mounted propellers on his costume constantly introducing the concept of blunt trauma when he tried to use them. In the end he did save the city once before calling it quits before his skull did. When a galactic level telepath had put the population of the entire galaxy in his power, and David’s so far unknown immunity to mental tampering, and the sudden insight to just rip the propeller off his shoulder and introduce blunt trauma to someone else for once saved the day. Whether it was the repeated blows to the head that granted this power, or he was born with it isn’t known, but its suspected that this mental durability is what kept Matt from going outright bonkers instead of just pleasantly unique from all the experiments. Too bad for David though, that nobody remembered their five minutes of being mental slaves to a now complete vegetable… And weren’t we talking about Matt’s history here? Matt spent the next several years of his life living with his grandfather, making up for lost time in school and shooting ahead to and through college. But most importantly, he developed a personality and morality like his grandfathers. The first half of his life had been the development of his skills, and the second half that most use for that made up for his lost time as just a living being. And so, after all this had passed, Matt returned to Supermegatopia. Intent on becoming a hero like his Grandfather had hoped to be, with his accepting his powers being only a matter of time. |
| Major Events |
The most important points of his life from his arrival in SMT all share common things. The times he joined hero teams. Being the now defunct Eyes of justice and his current Role in the vindicators, His gradual acceptance of his powers. Going from using only gear to making use of his inherent destructive power when needed. The love of his life. His meeting of, through marriage of Clairvoyance, Aka Pan Flute. He’s also blown up more things and given more bits of infinite wisdom than anyone is going to bother to count. |
